Eriofori nel sole di mezzanotte

Cotton Grass in midnight Sun

I fiori hanno un posto privilegiato tra i miei soggetti preferiti, forse esempio massimo della grazia che la Natura può incarnare in un essere vivente. In più amo la Scandinavia e il nord: convergono qui in una sola immagine, quindi, due delle tematiche cui sono più legato, due icone del Grande Nord. La luce arcana del sole di mezzanotte accarezza i soffici contorni dell'erioforo. Siamo sul Circolo Polare Artico, la latitudine dove il fenomeno comincia a manifestarsi, nelle sere estive di fine giugno. L'erioforo è pianta palustre estremamente comune in Lapponia, presente anche sulle nostre Alpi. Popolare e ben conosciuto, nei tempi passati veniva raccolto ed utilizzato come imbottitura per i cuscini, e questo può ben dare l'idea della sua morbidezza.

Flowers have a privileged place between my preferred subjects, maybe maximum example of the grace that the Nature could embody in a living being. More, I love Scandinavia and the North: therefore two of the themes which I am more attached are here converging in a single picture, two icons of the Great North. The arcane light of Midnight Sun caresses the soft edges of the Cotton Grass. Here we are on the Polar Arctic Circle, the latitude where the phenomenon begins to show itself, in the summer evenings of late June. The Cotton Grass is a marsh plant very common in Lappland, and also present on our Alps. Popular and well-known, in past times it was picked to be used like stuffing for the pillows, and this can certainly give an idea of his softness.
